More Armory Updates

Monday, December 31st, 2007

I’ve spent a bit more time today writing a parser to extract character skills from the armory, allowing secondary skills to be collected.  All the tradeskills, including secondary skills, should now update to reflect the current skill levels for each of the characters.

At some point in the future I will hopefully parse weapon skill, talents and reputation to allow full character profiles to be built.

Armory Updates

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

I’ve sinned yet again, it’s been a good while since I touched this site even though I’ve been playing quite a bit.

I have recently finished writing a parser which pulls in armory data on all the character profiles here on HighlandRaiders.co.uk.  The bar at the top of the page should now update as I level each character up - including the main tradeskills and their current levels (I’m still looking for a way to pull in the cooking, first aid and fishing levels though).

Other new additions to the site are profile pages (provided via www.mmoguildsites.com which are also updated via the armory - I hope to, at some point in the future, build a custom version of these profiles using the data I’m pulling in from the armory but It’ll probably be a while before I can bother myself to write a parser for that data.

So this probably means less updates from myself as there’s now no need for me to update levels and tradeskill information - possibly not a good thing for this site, we’ll see.

It’s Hallow’s End

Hallow's End
So from the 18th of this month through to the 31st it’s Hallow’s End. There’s loads of seasonal quests mostly to do with the Headless Horseman who’s going around and setting fire to all the villages in Azeroth.

It’s quite a fun part of the game where there’s buffs galore, turning players into pirates, ninjas, ghosts, bats, diablos and loads of other things. This is just a post to say: Happy Hallow’s End.

The image to the right shows Golan with a Jack ‘o Lantern on his head, I think it looks particularly evil on a Dwarf.

Back to World of Warcraft

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

It’s been ages since I’ve even looked at this blog. I actually stopped playing World of Warcraft for a while, not long after neglecting this site. I’m back now however and in full swing of things. I’ve updated the visuals on the site to be more along the lines of the World of Warcraft interface and am looking into pulling data down from the armoury section of the WoW site.

Since being away from here I’ve added two new characters to my ensemble: Duxun a male Draenei Shaman and Karnta a female Draenei Hunter. I’ve levelled Duxun up to 20 and Karnta up to 30. All other characters are now above level 20, see below:

  • Baradlin - 20
  • Despin - 20
  • Duxun - 20
  • Elizana - 20
  • Golan - 20
  • Hurn - 26
  • Karnta - 30
  • Kronas - 61
  • Sorfira - 20
  • Tantharos - 20

I hope to update this site more now that I’m back playing the game, however I’ll be keeping updates to important things rather than character profiles as it was previously. I aim to highlight the, in my opinion, easiest ways to level up in stages of 10 levels as well as highlight any race/class specific quests that I run into along the way. Another thing to expect will be details of how each class compares to each other in PvE gameplay at each level range.

That’s all for now.

Hello World (of Warcraft)

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

So this is my first post into the new blog which I will be updating with my progress in World of Warcraft. I’ve decided to start a character of each class and level them up at the same time.

I have 4 existing characters that will be in the lineup to start with: Kronas a level 53 Night Elf hunter, Hurn a level 25 Human paladin, Sorfira a level 20 Gnome rogue and Baradlin a level 7 Dwarf priest.

To this ensemble I have added: Tantharos a Night Elf druid, Golan a Dwarf warrior, Despin a Gnome mage and Elizana a Human warlock.

My intentions are to raise each character levels in batches of 5. This means raising all the alts to level 5, then to 10 and so forth. Higher level characters such as Hurn and Sorfira will join in the levelling when the lower level alts have reached their current levels.

This means I’ll be levelling one of each class (not including Kronas my high level hunter) from a relativley low level up to 60 (hopefully). I also intend to learn each tradeskill available with all these characters and fill the remaining tradeskill spaces with gathering skills to support the other alts.

So off to play the game and start on the ultimate quest!
